An exhibition showcasing over 2,500 years of India's rich and syncretic architectural history, containing elements of Indo-Islamic, Buddhist and British imperialist architecture, has opened here to mark India's 69th Independence Day.
The event, 'Temples, Forts and Palaces: 2000 Years of Indian Architecture', hosted by the Embassy of India in Belgrade, in collaboration with the New Delhi-based Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) was inaugurated yesterday.
The exhibition documents India's glorious achievements from pre-historic times to the end of the first millennium CE through its temples, forts, palaces and cities, the Indian Embassy here said in a statement.
It showcases magnificence of India's heritage from ancient times till today. A vast and ancient country, India has a long and continuous cultural tradition spanning more than 2500 years and the synthesis of traditions over time is highlighted in this exhibition.
The exhibition hosted at the Gallery of the National Bank of Serbia will last till August 31.
