India to provide Rs 5 crore to Nepali org for diabetes cure

India has pledged to provide a grant assistance of Rs 5 crore to a Nepali organisation for screening and treatment of diabetes patients in the country.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today between the Indian Embassy here and Gandhi Global Family Nepal (GGFN).
According to MoU India will provide Rs 5 crore assistance to GGFN for screening and treatment of Diabetes Mellitus under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme, the Embassy said in a release here.
GGFN, an apex voluntary group, working under the auspices of Nepal-India Human Development Friendship Association has been established with the objective of providing health and education services to economically and geographically deprived people to enhance humanity and cooperation.
Under the MoU, the India will provide hundred per cent financial assistance to the organisation for conducting 30,800 diabetic basic lab test and for providing free medicine to 10,450 diabetic patients for 6 months and free advance diabetic diagnostic test to 4,400 patients through health camps in various districts of Nepal.
