In an effort to streamline governance, Lt Governor Najeeb Jung today strictly directed Deputy Commissioners of all 11 districts to file detailed reports on water supply, power outages, functioning of government-run schools, hospitals and state of slums and unauthorised colonies among other issues.
Jung has also decided to take fortnightly meetings with the Divisional Commissioner and all the Deputy Commissioners to review the functioning of various government departments and utilities.
Officials said the DCs have been told to file detailed report within next two weeks about number of schools being run by Delhi Government and MCD in their districts, together with condition of school buildings, the general ambiance and availability of benefits under the various schemes like providing school uniforms and mid-day meals to students.
The DCs have also been specifically asked to report about condition of hospital buildings and facilities in them, cleanliness and sanitation and details about the care extended to patients at the time of registration.
To improve facilities at slum clusters, Jung has asked them to provide details in their respective districts including report on contractors, if any, operating any of them.
They have been asked to submit a report on basic needs such as water, power, medical aid and schools in these slums, including a report on power outages, if any.
The Deputy Commissioners have also been asked to submit a report on action taken to apprise the inhabitants about preventing fire and spread of fire in these slums, especially during the summer months.
All the DCs have been specifically asked to give details of unauthorised colonies in their areas.
The Lt Governor has also sought details about number of water bodies in their districts and whether they have water or not, including a report on encroachments, if any, on these water bodies.
The DCs have been told to give report on disaster prone buildings in their areas and in case there have been reports of building collapse, reasons for the same to be submitted together with a report on aid provided by various agencies in such cases.
