A 28-member Indian contingent will take part in 26 disciplines at a biennial international skills event to be held in Abu Dhabi from Sunday.
The Indian contingent, which has been chosen as part of the significant three countries along with the UAE and the Netherlands, will display their skills during the opening ceremony of the four-day World Skills Abu Dhabi (WSAD) 2017 event, the Indian consulate in Dubai said.
India's Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Suri will inaugurate the India Pavilion on Sunday, it said, adding that the Indian delegation comprises 10 interpreters and 10 special experts.
This year's event is the 44th World Skills Competition in which competitors from 77-member countries and regions will take part in 51 skill categories.
Launched in 1950, the competition is held every two years around the world. India joined the World Skills International Organisation as its 48th member, the statement said.
National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) is the nodal agency for WSAD 2017 and has been leading the country's participation at World Skills International Competitions since 2011.
The Indian competitors, including representatives from FICCI and CII, TATA, Maruti, Mahindra, are from 11 states.
Trade bodies CII and FICCI along with other partners have been given the responsibility of leading and promoting skills in beauty therapy, mechatronics, cabin making and welding.
