Indian eatery from UK town enters MPs' contest

A small town Indian restaurant has been nominated for an annual contest organised by British MPs to pick their favourite curry house in the country.
Akash Indian Brasserie at Darwen in Lancashire, north-west England, will compete alongside other South Asian restaurants from all over the UK for the Tiffin Cup 2015 trophy.
"After the overwhelming success of last year's competition we are looking forward to another change to sample some of the best offerings of Indian food in Britain. I wish the Akash the best of luck," said Keith Vaz, the Indian-origin MP who founded the cup with some of his colleagues in 2006.

MPs from across all parties are invited to put forward the best South Asian restaurant in their constituency and a select few of those are then short-listed by mystery guests who dine at these eateries anonymously.
The shortlisted restaurants are then invited to take part in a "cook-off" in London and the winner is awarded the Tiffin Cup and labelled the best South Asian restaurant in the UK.
The aim of the competition is to celebrate the quality and diversity of South Asian food in Britain and raise money for the charity World Vision.
The grand final of Tiffin Cup 2015 will be held at the House of Commons in London on October 27.
