Dipankar Dutta from Kolkata was arrested last night by a special team of the Nepal Police with the help of their Indian counterparts.
Dutta is the main suspect in the murder of hydropower engineer Laxmi Kant Mishra in July last year, Himalayan Times reported today.
Mishra (55), of Mahalaxmisthan, Lalitpur, who came to Parsa seeking partners to invest in a hydro project, was murdered by contract killers.
On August 2, police had found Mishra's beheaded body and confirmed his murder after they recovered his head on the banks of Sauraha River a week later.
Investigations have shown that Dutta had asked Mishra to go to Kathmandu with him in a vehicle, bearing an Indian registration number.
Mishra was allegedly killed on way to Kathmandu at Parwanipur Bypass road in Birgunj, police said.
