The accused, a delivery man, was sentenced to six months in prison by the Dubai Court of First Instance after he admitted that he had grabbed the girl by her hand, and hugged, kissed and touched her inappropriately.
The court also ordered his deportation, the Khaleej Times reported today.
The incident took place on January 20 and the matter came to light after the girl's mother, a 28-year-old Afghan housewife, filed a complaint.
"She went out to play with the neighbours' girls. As she was late I went to look for her in the corridor," the report quoted the mother as saying.
When the mother yelled at him, the accused ran away.
During investigation, the girl said that the defendant grabbed her hand by force as she was outside her friend's flat, pulled her to the lift and then to the stairs where he held her hand tightly and kissed her.
