Aneri Patel, a high school student, was waiting at a bus stop on her way back home when she was hit by a mid-size SUV in Kogarah, a suburb of southern Sydney in New South Wales.
Patel, who had just finished her exam and was returning home, was trapped under the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and later died.
The out-of-control vehicle, driven by a woman with a female passenger and two children, then crashed into a pharmacy, demolishing half the shop.
The chidren escaped relatively unhurt, The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
The injured have been admitted to an area hospital.
