29-year-old Parminder Singh allegedly killed his 23-year-old wife, Nikita Chawla, yesterday after he checked her mobile phone, which he believed confirmed his suspicions about her infidelity, Melbourne Magistrates' Court heard.
After killing her in his house in Melbourne, he called police and admitted to repeatedly stabbing his wife with a knife, the Herald Sun reported.
He was arrested from his house and charged with one count of murder today.
The accused appeared in the court which remanded him in custody until a mention hearing on May 1.
The court noted that it was his first time in custody and arranged for a mental health assessment to take place.
