Poovamma is a part of Anglian Medal Hunt Company's roster of athletes, which was set up to identify and nurture talent in the arena of Olympic sports.
For the Asian Athletics Championships, the company had sent in its physiotherapist, Hari Sankar Varma, to be with Poovamma to aid and support her training.
