A 30-year-old Indian working at a restaurant in Bahrain has been sentenced to two years in prison for manslaughter of a Saudi Arabian customer.
The Indian was arrested after he knocked down the customer, who suffered severe blow to his head and died due to a fractured skull two days later, Gulf Daily News reported.
The worker, however, claimed that he only killed a customer in self-defence. He alleged that the customer first attacked him with a shoe when he refused to set him up with women.
However, the worker was found guilty of manslaughter yesterday by Bahrain's High Criminal Court.
Judges acquitted the defendant's brother, who also works at the restaurant.
"The defendant confessed to the charges to prosecutors and his co-defendant's (brother's) testimony confirmed the incident had taken place," stated the court verdict.
