Industrialists should adopt villages under CSR: Maha Minister

Maharashtra Water Supply Minister Babanrao Lonikar today asked industrialists to adopt villages under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to help people who are facing dual problem of drought and unseasonal rains.
Lonikar who was addressing reporters here said under the CSR programme industrialists should adopt villages.
Most of the parts of the state are facing drought condition. Also there have been unseasonal rain and hailstorm. It is responsibility of the industrialists to participate in the CSR to succour drought hit and hailstorm hit people, he said.
The minister further said that some industrialists have shown their eagerness to adopt 25 villages in the district here.
According to him, about 500 villages should be adopted under Jalyukta Shivar Abhiyan, the flagship scheme of state government of providing villages with permanent source of water.
He also said a day's salary of government employees would be deducted for the drought and hailstorm hit villages and leading by example he will donate his month's salary.
About irregularities and delay in solid garbage disposal project in Jalna, he said necessary action would be taken against the contractor and the chief officer of the Jalna Municipal Council if they do not complete the project in stipulated time.
"An FIR would be lodged against the contractor and the CO if they fail to complete the project' Lonikar said.
