The Maoist leader, identified as Inderjeet, was injured in a gunbattle with the CoBRA commandos of the paramilitary on June 12 along the Jharkhand-Bihar axis near the Kumudi railway station.
"He is a big catch. He was injured in a gunbattle with our commandos sometime back and since then we were on his trail," Central Reserve Police Force chief Pranay Sahay told PTI.
Bihar DGP Abhayanand confirmed the arrest and said the state police would inform Jharkhand government about the development as Inderjeet was wanted by them.
They said he was getting himself treated undercover for bullet wounds in the hospital and the agencies moved in on him after getting vital tip-offs.
The Maoist commander was instrumental and wanted in the infamous incident of planting an IED in the abdomen of CRPF trooper Babulal Patel who was killed and left behind during an encounter in Jharkhand's Latehar early this year.
Some of his accomplices were earlier apprehended by Jharkhand police last month.
