INLD's poll manifesto is 'deception': Hooda

Taking a dig at INLD, Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today described the opposition party's election manifesto as a "deception".
"In the previous manifesto of INLD-BJP, they had promised to do away with both electricity metres as well as metre readers in the state but failed to keep their word. It was the Congress government which, after assuming office in 2005, waived off electricity bills of farmers amounting to Rs 1,600 crore," Hooda said at a rally Kharkhauda in Sonipat today.
INLD in its poll manifesto had announced sops for various sections including for women, poor and weaker sections, farmers, the unemployed youth, traders, besides asserting a Commission would be set up to probe the alleged controversial land deals in the state during the Congress rule.

Addressing the rally, Hooda announced that Rs 10 crore would be given for development of villages falling in the Kharkhauda Assembly segment and Rs 3 crore for Kharkhauda town. Hooda urged party workers to be ready for the ensuing polls and work unitedly to ensure the victory of the Congress. "If you all stand by me, no one can bother me," he said.
Referring to the outcome of the Lok Sabha elections 2014, Hooda said the fact remained that people did not vote for the policies of BJP. The central government has just completed two months, and during this period, the price of diesel has increased, rail fares have gone up and the sugar price has been hiked considerably, Hooda said.

Hooda said farmers and labourers would be the worst sufferers in the coming days as BJP has never been a "pro-farmer and pro-poor party".

Criticising opposition parties for neglecting interest of the people of Kharkhauda, Hooda said that during the tenure of the INLD-BJP Government from 1999 to 2005, they had spent Rs 98 crore on Kharkhauda, whereas his government has so far spent Rs 551.54 crore on various development works.
Similarly, in Sonipat district, the INLD-BJP government had spent Rs 549.54 crore during the same period whereas the present government has spent Rs 5,629.82 crore.
Hooda said he would soon organise a massive rally to showcase the strength of the Congress Party in the state. It would be the responsibility of the people to make the rally a success, he added.
