To boost investors' confidence in Noida, a BJP legislator today suggested bringing the sub-city on Delhi's outskirts under CCTV surveillance for strengthening the law and order machinery.
This was conveyed to Uttar Pradesh Industrial Development minister Satish Mahana by MLA from Noida Assembly constituency Pankaj Singh.
Singh, who is son of Union Home minister Rajnath Singh, said Mahana assured him that every possible step will be taken to beef up the security mechanism there.
NOIDA - an acronym for the New Okhla Industrial Development Authority - is a systematically planned sub-city falling under the National Capital Region (NCR).
It has emerged as a hot spot for IT and IT-enabled services industry with many large companies setting up their businesses there.
It has also become the preferred destination for the companies offering IT, ITeS, BPO, BTO and KPO services in various domains such as banking, financial services, pharma, insurance, auto, fast-moving consumer goods and manufacturing.
"Against this backdrop, I requested him (Mahana) to install close circuit television cameras in Noida so as to put a robust security system in place to avoid any untoward incident. It is necessary given the fact that everyday lakhs of men and women visit Noida for work," Pankaj told PTI here.
"CCTVs play a big deterrent for anti-social elements and criminals. I think that CCTV can work as a third eye and help police check anti-social activities," he said.
"While we want the government to install CCTVs at important places, we are also planning to run a campaign through social media and other modes of communication to motivate Noida residents to install CCTV cameras outside their houses for security," he added.
