Insurance agent arrested for duping clients

An insurance agent was arrested for allegedly misappropriating collections to the tune of over Rs 2,60,000 from various clients, police said today.
"We have arrested Anirban Nath who use to collect Insurance Premium on behalf of Bajaj Capital Insurance Broking Limited after the company complaint that he had misappropriated cash to the tune of Rs. 2,62,831 from various clients," East Khasi Hills district SP M Kharkrang said.
Nath was arrested from his hideout in Tripura (West) in a joint operation of the special team with Tripura police today and was brought to the state capital for further action as per law, he said.

According to the FIR lodged by the company, Nath had collected the amount from the clients but did not deposit it to the company and fled away.
He was booked under sections 420 and 409 of the IPC, the SP said.
