The government will bring a resolution in Rajya Sabha tomorrow to appoint two new members in the Select Committee on Insurance Bill as two of its members have become Union ministers.
BJP sources said that V P Singh Badnore and R Ramakrishna will replace Mukhtar Abbhas Naqvi and JP Nadda in the committee as they have now become Union Ministers.
The Select Committee chaired by Chandan Mitra has already held several meetings to discuss the key Bill proposing to raise the FDI limit in insurance sector from 26 to 49 per cent.
In the last session, a united opposition had forced the government to send the Bill to the select committee. The government is keen to pass the bill in this session.
After an all-party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said that the Insurance Bill is in an "advance stage of finalisation" and since two members of the Parliamentary committee concerned have become ministers, two new members would be inducted immediately. It would be requested to give the report by the end of the first week of the session beginning tomorrow.
