Garwha, which sizzled at 46 degree Celsius yesterday, registered a high of 45 degrees C while steel cities Jamshedpur and Bokaro recorded a maximum of 43.2 and 42 degree C respectively, according to MeT office sources.
Temperatures also soared in Latehar (43), Palamau (43.3), Pakur (43), Dhanbad (43), Kodarma (42), Dumka (42), Lohardaga (41), Gumla (41), Hazaribagh (41), Khunti (39) and Ranchi (39.9), they said.
"Jharkhand is witnessing heat wave for the last two/three days with temperatures being recorded between 40 and 45 degree C," senior scientist with the Birsa Agriculture University A Wadood said here.
In comparison with previous seasons, Jharkhand is witnessing a delayed heat wave, picking up in April-end, but it reduced in May first week following light rains before rising again now, he said.
