The 123rd edition of the conference began with the unfurling of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community's flag followed by the recitation of the Holy Quran today.
The first session of the convention was chaired by Chief Secretary of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community in India Maulana Muhammad Inam Ghaori.
He said the foundation of the convention was laid down by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian, the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim community, in 1891 AD.
He told the participants that apart from their spiritual development, they should endeavour to play their part in the development of the country as well.
The first session of the convention was attended by more than 17,000 delegates from all over the world including 6,000 from Pakistan, Press Secretary of the Ahmdiyya Muslim community, Sheikh Mujahid Ahmad said.
He said the community will organise a 'Sarb Dharma Sammelan' tomorrow in which scholars and representatives from different religions will take part.
