The seminar on "Wheat and Wheat Products, New Technologies and Marketing Opportunities" would be held from September 2, Wheat Products Promotion Society, the main organisers of the event, said in a statement here today.
"The seminar is expected to be a forum to discuss and find solutions for the various challenges faced by the Indian wheat industry in the global market. Issues of taxes, policy decisions and public distribution system will be addressed at the seminar", Organising Committee Chairman Ratan Gupta said.
"Wheat is most important crop in India and a large number of people depend upon wheat system for their livelihood," Directorate of Wheat Research, Project Director, Indu Sharma said.
With a record wheat production of more than 75 million tonnes last year, the condition was quite comfortable in India.
"However, the price is high in the international market and India has the lowest stock levels globally," she said.
