The project is expected to be commissioned by March 2016, IOC Gujarat Refinery Executive Director S K Dhar Gupta said in a release issued here.
A grid-tied 250 KW solar power system is already catering to the partial electricity requirement of its technical building, including daytime lighting and air-conditioning, it said.
Grid-tied systems are the most common type of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and are connected to the electrical grid, allowing usage of solar energy as well as electricity from the grid.
He further said Gujarat Refinery is investing Rs 160 crore in setting up a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in its 13.7 MMTPA refinery.
Mechanical completion of the RO plant is expected to be over by March 2016. The RO plant will maximise reuse of treated effluent by improving its quality and thus reduce fresh water consumption considerably, it said.
