Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said IPL cricket matches should have been held in Assam where ISL football matches were recently held peacefully in packed stadiums.
"The hosting of the ISL matches has given the message that Assam is peaceful," he told reporters at a press meet here.
"There were huge crowds in the stadiums, all the tickets were sold out for the ISL matches. The organisers even told us that our Assam Police was better than some of the other state police in helping the matches to be held peacefully," he said.
"Sports gives the message that Assam is peaceful. So IPL matches, too, should have been held here," the Chief Minister maintained.
