IPS officer's father bludgeoned to death in Latur

In a gruesome murder, the 75-year-old father of an IPS officer was bludgeoned to death in Latur district of Maharashtra by some unknown persons.
The head of Praladh Shantiveer Akkanouru, father of IPS officer Prasad Praladh Akkanouru currently posted as SP, CID, Pune, was crushed with a big stone, police said today.
Praladh was sleeping under the open sky near his house in Chakur on Monday night when he was killed. The murder came to notice of the police yesterday when the passers-by alerted them.
A case under section 302 of IPC (punishment for murder) has been registered at the Chakur police station against unknown persons, an official from the police station told PTI.

Asked if the police have been able to ascertain any motive to the killing, the official said preliminary probe hasn't been able to zero in on any probable cause.
In a moving tribute to his late father, Prasad in a Facebook post wrote, "I haven't seen a man of his calibre in my life. He lived like a fakir, under open sky with no fear of anything.... And those elements crushed his head in sleep. What a cowardice and hopeless act!
"The man who never visited a hospital in his life was cut into pieces on the autopsy table after life," added the 33-year IPS officer who celebrated his birthday on April 2.
