Senior IPS officer Sanjay Barve was Tuesday appointed the new director general of Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) of the Maharashtra police, an official said.
The home department issued an order of his new posting.
The post fell vacant after the then DG of ACB, Satish Mathur, was promoted and appointed the Maharashtra police DGP in 2016, the official said.
Before his current posting, the 1987-batch IPS officer was serving as managing director, Maharashtra State Security Corporation, and also holding charge of the State Intelligence Department, he said.
Earlier, Barve was considered a front runner for the post of Mumbai police commissioner. However, the state government appointed Subodh Kumar Jaiswal, a 1985-batch IPS officer, as the top cop of Mumbai in July.
Barve will retire in August next year, he said.
