It's difficult to shoot adult-comedy, says Aftab

Actor Aftab Shivdasani says it was difficult to shoot his upcoming adult comedy film "Kya Kool Hai Hum 3" and he had to make sure that the jokes did not appear vulgar.
"We are not making a porn film, it is a situation comedy under the umbrella of an adult-com. So the jokes what you may perceive vulgar are part of the larger scheme of the script," Aftab told PTI.
"We have to manoeuvre it as actors and make sure it does not look vulgar, at the same time even the gags which could possibly look vulgar we had to tone it down a bit so that it does not look vulgar. It looks fun, but it was difficult to shoot for a film like this," he said.

While shooting for the movie, the "Kasoor" actor always made sure that nothing should look vulgar.
"I know in a genre like this it's very easy to go down on that path with any gesture or with one dialogue or expression, the whole balance can tilt towards the vulgar side and then everything falls flat," he said.
"It is an actor's capability and ability to shift things in his way," he said.

During shooting, the makers were concerned about how the censor board would react to their project.
"I wouldn't say worried, but we were always concerned. So while we were shooting, we shot little extra material so that if the censor board decides to cut some stuff or if they think it's not possible, then we have something to fall back on," Aftab said.

At the same time, the script and humour were kept intact. "We are not really tampering with the dynamics of the script and the dynamics of the humour," he said.
Aftab's last release "Grand Masti" was also an adult comedy and "Kya Kool Hai Hum 3" is also in the same genre. But the 37-year-old actor doesn't mind repeating the format.
"It's a popular genre, it's a niche genre, it has got limited audience. If 'Grand Masti' would not have worked, then I would have thought twice of doing this film," he said.
"The only apprehension that I had was to make sure the story is amazing and the story was, it's radical and very different," he added.

"Kya Kool Hai Hum 3" is the third part of "Kya Kool Hai Hum" series. Starring Tusshar Kapoor, Aftab and Mandana Karimi in lead roles, the film will hit theatres on January 22.
