The "Chicago Fire" star the Valentine's Day proposal was "beautiful", reported People magazine.
"It was snowing - it was beautiful," he said.
And the actor, 33, said he had no hesitation about popping the question.
"I just knew. It wasn't a light bulb going off," he added.
Kinney said he will be recruiting help when it comes time to suit up.
"I'll have someone help me out with a tailored suit that fits well and looks nice.. But I'm not out there doing that on my own," he said.
