An official spokesman quoted the chief minister as saying that the contribution made by the two leaders in the socio- political awakening of people would long be remembered in Jammu and Kashmir.
Mehbooba said the best tribute to these two leaders would be that the people of the state commit themselves to peaceful means for resolution of issues.
Farooq was shot dead by militants on May 21, 1990 and Lone, father of Mehbooba's cabinet colleague Sajad Lone, fell to the bullets of ultras during a commemoration rally for the former on the same day in 2002.
