Congress in Jammu and Kashmir today passed resolutions demanding the Centre to act against Pakistan for ceasefire violations and killing of jawans.
"Congress has asked the Centre to give a befitting reply to Pakistan in connection with ceasefire violations and killing of jawans," JKPCC chief Saifuddin Soz told reporters after passing a resolution in this regard in the state executive committee in presence of Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and Congress general secretary Ambika Soni.
Condemning the killing of five jawans and increase in ceasefire violations and cross-border firing, he said, "These acts should not be tolerated at all."
Four more resolutions have been passed including one on strengthening relations between the Centre and state, giving relief package to refugees from PoK, implementation of 73rd and 74th amendments in Panchayati Raj Act in the state and implementation of Food Security and Land Acquisition Bills, he said.
In her address, Ambika Soni called upon workers to work unitedly for strengthening the party at the grass root level.
She stressed on coordinated efforts of party functionaries and ministers to reach out to the masses to mitigate people's problems and said, a detailed programme will be worked out to further gear up party activities.
Addressing party workers, Azad urged upon them to work towards strengthening Congress at the booth level and to defeat communal and divisive forces.
