J-K govt plan to strengthen road network

Jammu and Kashmir government has formulated a Rs 142 crore plan for constructing roads measuring 150-km in Kishtwar district under the Prime Ministers Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
"With a view to connect remote and far-flung habitations of the Kishtwar with road network, the government has formulated a plan to construct 150 kms road length involving a whooping sum of Rs 142 crore," an official spokesman said here today.
Requisite Draft Project Reports for the purpose have been already prepared, he said.
It was stated at a meeting of the engineers of PMGSY held in Civil Secretariat under the chairmanship of Minister of State for Industries, Commerce, Home and Tourism, Sajad Ahmad Kichloo.
The meeting was convened to take stock of ongoing road communication projects in various areas of the Kishtwar district especially in Warwan, Paddar, Marwah and Kishtwar.
The Minister enjoined upon the engineers concerned to conduct a comprehensive survey for construction of road network from Inshan to Kishtwar and Inshan to Marwah and submit it to the government so that required funds are earmarked to take up these road projects.
Kichloo said road construction in these remote and backward areas was imperative to improve living standard of the people.
