Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today announced that two science museums will be established in the state.
The minister made the announcement at a meeting to review the implementation of centrally-sponsored education schemes such as the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) in the state.
"The science museums will be established at Srinagar and Jammu under the SSA framework. The state-of-the-art science museums shall be an integral and dynamic part of the learning sciences in the state," Bukhari said.
During the meeting, he was informed that the salary of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) Teachers have been disbursed up to May 2017 and the salary of June will be paid in time.
However, the salary of Regularized ReT teachers (RRTs) have been cleared up to January 2017 and two months salary (February and March) will be released before Eid.
"We are aware of the difficulties being faced by SSA teachers in regard to their salaries. But I assure them that this issue is being redressed on priority," Bukhari said.
While reviewing the RMSA and SSA, he asked officers to compile information about different construction works both completed and in progress at all districts of the state.
The minister directed the agencies concerned to expedite the construction of buildings for various schools across the state and ensure their early completion.
Bukhari stressed on speedy execution of all construction works being under SSA and RMSA for augmentation of school accommodation.
"We can't afford to lose more time now. Students in many a schools are suffering for the want of proper accommodation. Funds are available under both the centrally sponsored schemes so there should be no excuses for the delay," he said.
The minister also emphasised on availability of proper furniture in schools and asked officials to assess the requirements.
