J&K Guv asks Shrine board to prepare action plans for next

Lauding the efforts of various agencies and local stakeholders for the successful conduct of the annual Amarnath yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has asked Shri Amarnatji Shrine Board (SASB) to prepare camp-wise and route-wise action plans, focusing on medicare and environment protection, for the next year's pilgrimage.
"Chief Executive Officer of SASB R K Gupta should initiate action to prepare Camp-wise and route-wise Action Plans for Yatra 2015, on a time-bound basis, particularly focusing on the requirements of medicare, water and power supply, sanitation, environment protection, accommodation and all other required facilities," Vohra said addressing the post-Yatra 2014 review meeting which was followed by a felicitation function at Raj Bhavan here yesterday.
The 44-day-long Amarnath yatra ended on August 10 with over 3.70 lakh pilgrims paying obeisance at the 3,880 metre high holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas. As many as 46 pilgrims died during the pilgrimage due to various causes with cardiac arrest accounting for most of the deaths.
The deceased included 39 pilgrims, two Sadhus and five sevadars (volunteers). Four volunteers died in a fire incident inside a community kitchen.
The Governor, who is also chairman of the SASB, lauded the excellent synergy and very high level of coordination among the State Government, Army, Central Police Forces, Police, Shrine Board and each of the concerned State government departments, agencies and local stakeholders involved with the management of the Yatra.
He also thanked the people at large for their valuable support for ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of this arduous pilgrimage.
