Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today held meetings with senior security officials for the smooth conduct of the upcoming annual Amarnath Yatra.
"The Governor held separate meetings, first with IGP of CRPF, Kashmir, Atul Karwal and IG of BSF, Kashmir, Jagat Singh here at the Raj Bhavan today," an official spokesman said.
He said Karwal and Singh briefed the Governor about the arrangements being made by their respective forces to support the smooth conduct of the ensuing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and to maintain a secure environment.
In another meeting, Superintendents of Police, Abdul Jabbar of Anantnag and Imtiaz Ismail Parray of Ganderbal, also called on Vohra.
The Governor, who is the Chairman of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, was briefed by the two police officers about issues relating to the conduct of the yatra, the spokesman said.
He said Additional Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Jitendra K Singh, was also present during the discussions.
The Governor, who had earlier discussed yatra management related issues with Director General of Police K Rajendra and IGP (Kashmir), advised the SPs to ensure effective maintenance of law and order during the yatra alongside facilitation of the pilgrims, the spokesman said.
The annual pilgrimage to the mountain cave housing the naturally formed ice-lingam in south Kashmir Himalayas is scheduled to start from July 2 and will conclude on August 29.
