J & K minister reviews arrangements for Mughal Road Rally

The rally, which is being jointly sponsored and co-organized by Tourism Department and Himalayan Motorsports Shimla, would be flagged off from SKICC here followed by prize distribution on the concluding day of the event on July 2, an official spokesman said.

He said there would be two stages of the rally - Transport and Competitive Stage.

"The transport stage will start at Srinagar and pass through Pampore-Pulwama-Shopian and Dobjan while the competitive stage would start at Dubjan and pass through Pir ki Gali and culminate at Bufliaz in Jammu region," the spokesman said.

He said the run would have two separate rallies -- the extreme, a fast paced event with professional drivers and the Enduro, a slower event, but both aimed at promoting tourism through motor racing.

The extreme event will return from Bafliaz while Enduro will proceed to Jammu after crossing Mughal road at Bafliaz, he said.

The spokesman said the meeting discussed the security measures needed to be taken on the days of rally and it was told that for safety of the participants, the organisers will use licensed VHF Radio sets to remain informed about the movement of the vehicles. MORE
