"A show cause notice was issued to the owner of the local cable network in Kathua after it came to our notice that the network was violating election code, by airing lengthy political speeches in the garb of news telecast," an official of the election commission told PTI.
He said that after the show cause notice was issued to the owner of the network, a mob had attacked the office of the Additional District Magistrate during which his personal security officer was also injured.
He said that the network violated Section 11 of the Cable Network Act of 1995 and the action to seal the network was taken under the same section.
