The Jammu and Kashmir government has announced to make supply chain management (SCM) under the electronic public distribution system (ePDS) operational by December 1 this year for distribution of ration in the state.
"Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) will make Supply Chain Management operational from December 1 in Jammu and Kashmir", Minister for FCS&CA Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said.
Zulfikar, who reviewed the setup at a meeting here yesterday, asked the department to work with proactive approach for successful implementation of ePDS in the state.
The minister said that to make the system fully transparent, it is important that every aspect of ePDS should be completed as soon as possible so that visible changes can be noticed on the ground.
The meeting was convened to review the progress of implementation of ePDS in the state.
Regarding Aadhaar seeding, Zulfkar sought district wise report and asked for achieving the given targets in 20 days. "All the generated Aadhaar should be seeded immediately as it has been made mandatory for receiving ration March 31, 2018 onwards."
Taking note of slow progress of Aadhar seeding especially in Kashmir division, the minister fixed the targets for districts and asked the concerned to complete it within 15 days.
Speaking about the installation of Point of Sales (PoS) machines on pilot basis in government food outlets and fair price shops, the minister said that the installation will be launched on November 12 from the Samba district.
It was also decided in the meeting that all the payments to SRTC will be stopped till they install GPRS on their vehicles carrying food grains and government order in this regard will soon be issued by the administrative department.
