The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) has directed the DGP for registration of a formal case in an underage appointment incident, unearthed in the Police department, an official spokesman said.
The Commission, while taking notice of a complaint against Atta Mohammad working in Indian Reserve Police (IRP) 9th Battalion in Miatra belt of Ramban district, had called for a factual report from Commandant IRP 9th Battalion after a thorough enquiry, he said.
The report discloses that the said official had been appointed in the year 1985, whereas his date of birth as per the documents furnished by the said Commandant along with the report was 01-04-1969 (when he was just 16 years of age), he said.
"Further, there is no document on record suggesting that any relaxation of age had been granted in the instant case by the competent authority", the SVC spokesman said.
As the allegations leveled in the complaint stand substantiated, the Commission has directed the Director General of Police for registration of formal case in the matter and ensure necessary action as warranted under law as early as possible, he added.
