Veteran actor Jack Nicholson allegedly had severe drug addiction in his early career, according to a new memoir entitled 'Nicholson'.
In the book, author Marc Elliot alleges that the "Bucket List" actor started using LSD in 1960s, reported Radar Online.
"Jack's experiences with the drug were life-changing. He believed after taking it the first time that he had seen the face of God. He also had castration fantasies, homoerotic fantasies, and revelations about not being wanted as an infant," Elliot said.
According to the book, Nicholson took drugs when he was writing the screenplay of 1967's "The Trip" and he "regularly got stoned and dropped acid" when working on the script of the "Head" next year.
Actress Karen Black is said to have claimed that the movie set always featured alcohol and cocaine.
Nicholson allegedly used drugs to help him with his acting and writing. He is said to have admitted, "Being stoned has helped me creatively with writing... It's easier to entertain yourself mentally."
The actor's former girlfriend Susan Anspach claimed that he took cocaine during the filming of an emotional scene in 1970's "Five Easy Pieces". Eliot also alleges that Nicholson smoke marijuana with a friend during the filming of "The Last Detail" in 1973.
The "How Do You Know" star reportedly stopped using drugs in 1980s or 1990s following "physical problems" and the death of his close friends. He apparently lost an acting deal for "Annie" because of his drug use.
