YSR Congress Party chief and the Leader of Opposition in Andhra Pradesh Assembly YS Jaganmohan Reddy today launched his two-day long 'samara deeksha' protest to highlight the "failures" of the TDP government in the state.

Jagan launched the protest near Mangalagiri town in Guntur district.

Addressing a public gathering on the occasion, he said, "None of the promises made by the TDP before coming to power, particularly the loan waiver for farmers, have been fulfilled by the state government."

"Other promises like loan waiver for DWCRA (Development of Women and Children in Rural Areas) group, one job for each household, unemployment compensation of Rs 2,000 a month also remain unfulfilled," he said.

Alleging that Naidu betrayed all sections of the society, Jagan said, "Under the pretext of construction of the state capital, fertile lands have been forcibly taken away from the farmers in the name of land pooling."

But the land acquired for the capital will only benefit foreign companies, he alleged.

On the demand for special category status to Andhra Pradesh, Jagan said Naidu should put more pressure on the Centre "or else stop being a part of the NDA government".

Jagan also released a "peoples' ballot" with 100 questions for the ruling TDP and asked people to give their verdict on the government's performance.
