YSR Congress president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy Saturday met Governor E S L Narasimhan here and sought a sought a CBI inquiry into the death of his uncle and former MP Y S Vivekananda Reddy.

The YSRC chief alleged that the needle of suspicion points towards the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh.

"I am asking a straight question to Chandrababu Naidu.. If you are not at fault, why are you hesitating to give this case for CBI inquiry," he said.

He favoured inquiry either by CBI or an agency that does not report to police officials in Andhra Pradesh or to Naidu.

The YSR Congress president told reporters his party would go to court if the demand for CBI inquiry is not met.

Naming certain police officials who, he alleged, helped the Telugu Desam Party, he sought their removal from their posts.

Vivekananda Reddy did not have security, he said.

Vivekananda Reddy, former minister and younger brother of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, was found dead at his house in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

Police had initially registered a case under Section 174 Cr P C (unnatural death) when Reddy's body was found by his staff early in the morning.

After post-mortem in the local government hospital, police confirmed the case was altered to Section 302 IPC that relates to murder.

The incident sparked a political slugfest between the opposition YSR Congress and the TDP with both trading allegations against each other.

On Friday, Vivekananda Reddy's party, YSR Congress, demanded a CBI probe into the case even as the state government constituted a Special Investigation Team, headed by CID Additional Director General of Police Amit Garg, to probe the death.

The YSR Congress chief has alleged that chief minister Chandrababu Naidu was responsible for his uncle's death.

Naidu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSRC blamed him, his son Lokesh and the TDP only for political gains.

"Truth is truth. Nothing can be hidden. They wanted to use a family member's murder for political gains. It is a misfortune to have such a leader in politics," Naidu said, hitting out at the YSR Congress chief.

Rejecting Jagan Mohan Reddy's demand for a CBI investigation, Naidu had said the demand was raised only to get away from the case.
