Jagran Prakashan Q2 Net rises 24.09 per cent to Rs 56.55 cr

Jagran Prakashan Ltd, publishers of leading Hindi daily Dainik Jagran, today reported a 24.09 per cent increase in its consolidated net profit at Rs 56.55 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2014.
The company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 45.57 crore during the July-September quarter last fiscal.
Total consolidated income from operations increased by 5.77 per cent to Rs 436.27 crore during the period under review as compared to Rs 412.44 crore in the year-ago period, Jagran Prakashan said in a BSE filing.
"All publication brands, including Dainik Jagran, continued to improve per copy realisation, which helped record growth in profits in spite of significant impact of increased newsprint cost and subdued economy in the first half of the current fiscal," the company said.
Jagran Prakashan's consolidated revenue from advertising during the quarter under review increased by 7.99 per cent to Rs 306.93 crore as against Rs 284.21 crore during the same period last fiscal.
Its consolidated revenue from circulation also grew 8.85 per cent to Rs 96.49 crore during the July-September quarter in FY 2014-15 as against Rs 88.64 crore during the same quarter of the previous fiscal.
For the first half of the 2014-15 fiscal, Jagran Prakashan's consolidated net profit increased by 8.08 per cent to Rs 111.69 crore as against Rs 103.34 crore in the year-ago period.
Total consolidated income from operation in the first half of the fiscal increased 6.29 per cent to Rs 876.57 crore as against Rs 824.67 crore in the same period last year.
Apart from Dainik Jagran, the group's other publications includes Midday, Naiduniya, I-Next, City Plus and Punjabi Jagran.
Shares of Jagran Prakashan today closed at Rs 128.30 per scrip on the BSE, down 0.54 per cent from its previous close.
