Jail superintendent attacked by prisoners

Jail superintendent R K Chauhan was attacked by about six inmates while he was inspecting the prison cells, Superintendent of Police Shivdeep Lande said.

Chauhan sustained a fracture to a finger in the attack and has been admitted to Sadar hospital for treatment.

An FIR has been lodged and an investigation is on, Lande said.

The inmates were reportedly miffed after learning that some of them were going to be transferred to another prison, the SP said.
