Jamia Millia Islamia today launched Global Jamia Alumni Network (GJAN), a first of its kind network conceptualised to unite the university's alumni from different parts of the world.
"Being an alumnus of JNU and AMU, both of which have a vibrant alumni association, I felt that it was time that Jamia too started its own alumni network," Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad at the launch.
Citing the examples of Harvard and Cambridge, whose alumni have played a seminal role in their universities by providing funding and scholarships, Ahmad said in the next few years Jamia alumni too should connect with their university and contribute to it in different ways.
