Jammu region can emerge as a prominent tourist hotspot and the state government is working to tap its immense potential by initiating necessary development works, Jamey and Kashmir Deputy CM Tara Chand said today.
"Concerted efforts are being made by the government to exploit the wide-ranging tourism potential of Jammu region," Chand said after flagging off a cultural rally here.
The event was organised to highlight the rich Dogra culture and heritage.
Chand said the need of the hour is to promote heritage tourism and take the visitors beyond Katra, the base camp for Vaishnodevi yatra.
He said mega-projects have been launched to upgrade tourism infrastructure in places like Shiv-Khori, Budha Amarnath and other places of tourist interests.
Prestigious projects like Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex, Artificial Lake and Cable Car projects have been undertaken to add to the tourist attraction of the city, Chand said.
