In view of the proposed Jat agitation from June 5, the Haryana Police Department has cancelled leave of all personnel except in emergency cases till further orders.
A written communication to this effect has been sent today to all concerned including Commissioners of Police, District Superintendents, Additional Inspectors General, etc by Inspector General of Police (Administration) A S Chawla.
Additional Director General of Police, Mohammad Akil said strict vigil will be kept on anti-social elements and those found spreading rumours or vitiating peaceful atmosphere would be dealt with sternly.
"The police and district administration would maintain law and order and safety of the people would be ensured," Akil told reporters in Bhiwani.
Akil said Duty Magistrates have been deputed. Help of public representatives and Gram Panchayats was being sought to maintain peace, he added.
He also said there was no shortage of police personnel or equipment to maintain law and order.
"The police would not tolerate blocking of road and rail traffic. Police officers are holding meetings with responsible citizens to maintain peace in rural and urban areas," he said.
Official sources said that surveillance will be kept on
those elements who try to spread rumours or other objectionable material over WhatsApp and social media.
The Haryana Government has directed all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners of the state to send daily situation reports relating to their division or district with effect from June 3.
These reports may be sent till further orders to Secretariat Control Room, which has been set up at Chandigarh recently for the purpose, an official spokesman said.
