Jats protest against land allotment violence

Members of the Jat community today blocked the Delhi-Firozpur railway tracks in protest against the recent clash over land allotment at Dharaundi village in this district.
A youth was killed and several others were injured in the violence that took place on July 18.
The protesters demanded job for the victim's wife and compensation of Rs 25 lakh.
Police forces have been deployed in the village to keep the situation under control.
The clash had led to huge tension in the area. About 150 Dalit families had reportedly left the village after their houses were attacked.
