HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar will felicitate a group of students who despite coming from under-privileged background scored high marks and secured admission in top Delhi colleges.
"It has been felt that while the students who top examinations should be recognised for their achievements, the hard work put by those who fought the odds to do well should also be lauded," a senior ministry official said.
Javadekar will felicitate the students at an event at his residence tomorrow.
"The event is aimed at sending the message that the HRD Minister's focus is on supporting all sections in the pursuit of quality education," the official said.

"We are in dialogue with all stakeholders for an effective policy. Right steps are being taken without any delay," Javadekar said.
The proposed policy has been discussed thoroughly since the last-one-and-a-half years and suggestions are being invited till September 30, the Minister said.
"After that a committee, headed by an educationist, will prepare a final draft which will be then taken to the Cabinet."
He said the BJP-led government is making efforts to ensure no student commits suicide due to academic or campus-related issues.
"Dialogue, mentoring...That is what we are planning in university campuses...Our aim is to improve the campus environment through dialogue and mentoring.
