Widow of a ITBP jawan along with her two sons allegedly tried to immolate here today demanding memorial for the deceased soldier, a senior official said.
The family took the extreme step when their demand for allotment of land for the memorial was turned down by the district authorities.
"...Before the family could douse themselves, they were overpowered by collectorate staff and the police", District Magistrate N C Shukla said.
The family was first taken to hospital and then was sent to their village Makehara under Magorra police station, he said.
"Vimla was assured all help and then was sent to her village Makehara with her sons Ramesh and Deepak," the DM Shukla said.
Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) jawan Sugriv Singh was posted at Shivpuri (Madhya Pradesh) and was killed on November 22, 2014 by Maoists.
Shukla said he was waiting for the details about Sugriv and his death.
"We would write to the Government to allot some land for the memorial of Sugriv if it is established that he was killed in the encounter," he added.
DySP Ajay Kumar stated that the actual cause of death "is being ascertained by requesting his unit to send the record",
Vimla had earlier met Shukla and demanded some land for making a befitting memorial for her husband.
