Jaya case adjourned to Mar 6 for further recording of evidence

A special court trying the disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today adjourned till March 6 further recording of statements of defence witnesses.
Meanwhile, Sandesh Chouta, assisting the prosecution in the case, tendered his resignation from the post today.
Special court judge M S Balakrishna adjourned the case to March 6 after evidence of seven witnesses were recorded. With this, the total number of witnesses whose evidence has been recorded so far is 18.
Special public prosecutor Bhavani Singh cross examined three defence witnesses today.
Jayalalithaa has been charged with amassing wealth to the tune of Rs 66 crore disproportionate to her known sources of income when she was chief minister between 1991 and 1995 and the case had been transferred to the court here by the Supreme Court.
