According to a Raj Bhavan statement, Panneerselvam, also is AIADMK Treasurer, submitted his resignation to Rosaiah.
"The Governor of Tamil Nadu has invited Selvi (Ms) J Jayalalithaa to form the Ministry at the earliest and requested her to send the list of persons to be appointed as Ministers with portfolios," the statement said.
"The Governor of Tamil Nadu accepted the resignation," of Panneerselvam and his council of Ministers from the 'forenoon of' May 22, 2015, it said.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa was elected unanimously as AIADMK Legislature leader at a meeting of her party MLAs here.
There was no official word when Jayalalithaa would be sworn-in as Chief Minister for the second time in the 14th Assembly of Tamil Nadu.
