Beginning September 12, Jayalalithaa will address public meetings and campaign for her party candidates.
She will be campaigning in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore on September 12,14 and 15 respectively, a party release said here today.
Civic polls are slated to be held for the posts of Mayor in Tuticorin, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore and for the posts of Municipal chairpersons in eight municipalities including Arakkonam, Kodaikanal, Kunoor and Pudukottai besides that of councillors in several local bodies.
On August 28, filing of nominations opened and it is slated to end today. While the polls will be held on Septemeber 18, the results will be declared on September 22.
AIADMK's arch rival the DMK, its allies like Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi, the Congress, and BJP's allies MDMK and DMDK have announced that they would boycott the polls.
